There are two type of visa that can be used by the students to study in ISI Yogyakarta, which are:
Visa Kunjungan Sosial Budaya (VKSB)
VKSB is a given to the foreigners who visit Indonesia for non-working activities, including governmental, tourism, social cultural, and business activities. Recommend for students who want to take Bachelor/Master/Ph.D degrees, exchange program (2-12 months), training program (2-6 months), and summer course programs in ISI Yogyakarta.
Duration: 30-90 days from the arrival date, normally 60 days

Benefits :
This visa is possible to be extended for 5 times (for 30 days/each extension). The total duration to stay is 7 months since the arrival date
This visa is possible to be converted into 6 months/1 or 2 years Limited Stay Visa (Visa Ijin Tinggal Terbatas-VITAS)
Making the Extension
Maximum extension is five times, for maximum 30 days per extension

Time for Extension : 7 days before the due date
Duration of process : 3-5 working days (M-F), excluding the national holidays
Extension fee:
Official fee from the Immigration Office is IDR 250.000/extension for maximum 30 days. UIA ISI Yogyakarta encourages the students to make their extension by themselves, so that they will learn how to process their immigration arrangement. Assuredly, UIA will provide the assistance and supervision for the students during this process.
The students who received scholarship from the Government of Republic of Indonesia (Dharmasiswa Scholarship), do not need to pay the fee, as it has been provided by the Ministry of National Education of Republic of Indonesia.
Travelling Abroad
VKSB holder may travel abroad without having re-entry permit from the immigration, however, the visa is automatically expired once the holder is abroad.
Important Notice :
Students who study for more than 6 months should report to the Immigration Office at maximum 7 days after his/her arrival, accompanied by the UIA staff.
Legal consequences given by the Immigration officer to the respected students for tardily extending their visas, are solely students’ responsibility. The VKSB holder must pay the fine of IDR 200.000 for each day of the detainment. The next visa validation days will be issued and calculated according to the stamped date on the passport. Holidays and weekends are calculated as active days and will be charged fine as well. UIA will only provide an assistance in the administration procedure.
Visa Ijin Tinggal Terbatas (VITAS)/ Kartu Ijin Tinggal Terbatas (KITAS)
Visa Ijin Tinggal Terbatas (VITAS) is a given to foreigners either for working purposes or for non-working purpose, including degree earning (study), long term training, research, and family reunion. VITAS holder will hold a KITAS (a yellow card of limited stay visa) and the immigration control book (blue). Recommended for a student who wants to earn a degree or a minimum of one year program.
Duration : 6 months, 1 year, 2 years
Benefits :
Does not require monthly visa extension
Costs less than the monthly visa extension

Important Notices :
Please carefully keep your KITAS and the Immigration Control Book. In case of missing, the students have to undergo the procedure from the beginning. The cost for a new KITAS with the same ID number is twice higher than the previous KITAS.
GENERAL REQUIREMENTS FOR MAKING VITAS
Study Permit
Study Permit is an obligatory permit for international students of ISI Yogyakarta. It is issued by the Biro Perencanaan dan Kerjasama Luar Negeri (Bureau of Planning and Foreign Cooperation) of the Ministry of National Education.
In order to get a VITAS, students have to get Student Permit from the Ministry of National Education. Study permit is compulsory for applying and renewing KITAS. The students must arrange this permit-preferably through email-with the staff of UIA ISI Yogyakarta prior to their arrival. For VKSB holder, the students are welcome to start their study in ISI Yogyakarta even though their student permit is still in progress. This regulation is also applicable for students with certain circumstances, such as the registration date is close enough with the starting date of the study scheduled.
Nevertheless, this process is not applicable for the students with the scholarship provided by the Government of Indonesia. Student permit for these students are provided by the Ministry of National Education.

Surat Keterangan Lapor Diri
SKLD is a letter stating that a foreign student has been registered in the Police record. In case of emergency, the police can identify the foreigners easily. SKLD is submitted to the Police Department in any provinces in Indonesia, called Kepolisian Daerah (POLDA). The students are required to make this letter within 30 days after receiving KITAS. The students will be asked to give recommendation letters (provided by UIA ISI Yogyakarta) and their finger prints to the Police Department for the records.
