Background

Since body and movement are the main elements of dance, talking about dance in an academic scene is not just about moving the body, but also the practice of dance to its theorization. Morris said, there is an interconnection between the dancing body and individual and group identities. Dance engages with the social, historical, political, and economic context. “Revisit dance” means we are digging and looking again into the dance as a term, practice, and the presentation of the movement in the past, present, or future.

Nowadays, we present dance in diverse ways and media. We can find several dances performed in the past amazingly disclose traditional and innovative presentations today. We also see people’s bodies and movements on camera, stage, film, and social media platforms in which some have been in collaboration with artificial intelligence. Chandraleka said, how the function of dance has changed over the centuries, from that participatory, communal act of physical expression which embodied the material of the people who danced, to one which became distanced from these conditions: where performer and spectator were separated, and dance became spectacle. Therefore, we can discuss this change and phenomena in oral presentation and dance.
